I work as the editor-in-chief of Delta newspaper and Delft Integraal/Outlook science magazine of Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands, where I also teach science journalism. I am project leader and initiator of ScienceOnline Leiden and I promote better science communication and journalism. After a Masters in biology I worked for many years as a science journalist and researcher at Dutch national public broadcasting.
I am a member of the Dutch science journalists association Vereniging van Wetenschapsjournalisten in Nederland and involved with the World Federation of Science Journalists as editor of the Online Science Journalism Course. I was a member of the executive committee of the World Conference of Science Journalists 2009, the program committee of the World Conference of Science Journalists 2011, and for the World Conference of Science Journalists 2013 I produced two sessions (Misuse them and abuse them: fighting for facts in science journalism and The changing roles of science journalists: adapting the students).
