Dying girl brings boy who’s obsessed with death back to life. Unfortunately it feeds on the melodramatic.
The modest play of Gorden-Levitt and Kendrick is so natural it’s hard not to be drawn into their world and care for their characters. This well written and directed dramedy will have you by the heartstrings from beginning to end.
A beautiful story in principle, but it’s playing too much for your heartstrings. Passionate play between Gosling and McAdams and Garner and Rowlands. Good cinematography.
Cleverly made movie, slowly building tension, with little dialogue, that is carried solely by Gosling and the music of Martinez. Directing style reminds of David Lynch. Movie contains an uncomfortable level of violence.
Funny, especially Gleeson, and the Irish puns in general.
